Without high-quality relevant links, your website will have a tougher time of ranking in the top positions in Google for high traffic, competitive keywords. Niche marketing begins with finding a great product to sell.

When selling a product, a lot of people make the mistake of developing their product first, and then trying to find a market for it. Of course, the process should be reversed. Niche marketing success depends on finding a market first that spends money, then find out what they want and give it to them.

It is certainly easier said than done, but there are a lot of places online where you can do your niche marketing research for free. They’ve done most of the work for you already. You just need to know where to go and what to do to connect all the dots.

Let me show you the process I go through when I’m trying to brainstorm for ideas.

For starters, I’m always aware of trends and current events in the real world. I read several newspapers each day, many magazines, both general and niche-specific, I watch the news, I listen to the radio. Occasionally something that I hear or read will stick with me. I may record my thoughts on my portable voice recorder, jot down some notes, whatever happens to be convenient for me. Sometimes I’ll call my office voice mail and leave myself a message.

But at some point I’ll have several broad ideas to research. I want to look deeper. And I want to make sure there is a good market for them before I even think about creating a product.

So I’ll begin completing the following steps:

The eBay Pulse site is a great place to start looking at sub-niches. What I will do is select the category first  then look for profitable sub-niches by then selecting a sub-category. The best chance for success is if I am as specific as possible with my niche selection.

In this journey the “hot niche” refers to an online niche as opposed to an offline niche. You’re going to learn how to find an online niche that you want to get into with the end result being that of making money. Or you can sell digital things like ebooks, photographs, information, public domain products, websites, domain names, coupons and . You can also sell services online, like website design and creation, search engine optimization, hosting, writing, coaching, you can be an online psychic, etc.

You don’t even have to sell your own products or services. You can sell other people’s products as a “middleman” or “affiliate” and earn a commission from the product owner.

The bottom line is that internet marketing is like a vast ocean. There are as many ways to make money and products or services to promote as the ocean is deep. This has been a very broad overview that has only scratched the surface of this ocean. We will dive into this ocean in future posts and I will spend a lot of time on how to find a hot niche because this is really where it all begins. Choose the wrong niche and you could be in big trouble. Choose the right niche and you could be raking in the “Big Money” for years to come.
